But then you hit a wall. There is only so much a fashion designer can do their own. You might consider bringing in a partner who can expand the amount of designs your company is able to produce. Perhaps you would prefer to overlook a number of fashion designers to really increase your brand.
The “talent gap” has been identified as a massive problem in the fashion industry by a 2014 report from the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Many companies believed they lacked the talented individuals needed to make their business a success and found it difficult to find the most creativedesigners.
But those same companies also admitted to not being concerned about hiring HR staff. It is a commonality in the fashion world that HR is an after-thought. It is easy to see why; it is a business that thrives on creativity and technique rather than business principles. But when these same businesses cannot expand and grow because of a lack of talent, suddenly the omission of a HR team becomes more apparent.
That does not mean that fashion brands should rush out and panic-hire a team of HR staff. In fact, it might make more sense money-wise to simply outsource your HR needs to a company like the Bradfield Group. They can take care of hiring, payroll and one-off projects, as well as being able to step in when employee-relations break down.
