CIPD Level 3 Certificate in People Practice is a qualification that provides learners with a sound understanding of human resources (HR) concepts and practices.
CIPD Level 3 covers essential HR topics such as Employment Law, Recruitment and Selection, Performance Management, and Employee Relations as well as Analytics, HR Behaviours and Business Culture. It is designed for individuals who are new to HR or who have some experience in the field and wish to pursue a career in HR.
The course aims to equip learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively perform HR tasks and responsibilities within an organization. The CIPD Level 3 course can be studied part-time and is ideal for those who wish to enter the HR field or progress in their HR careers.
How long does CIPD level 3 take?
The duration of completing a CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) Level 3 qualification varies but typically takes between 6-10 months to complete.
The duration also depends on the student's prior experience and knowledge of HR, as some may require more time to fully grasp the concepts and complete assignments.
How hard is CIPD level 3?
The level of difficulty the learner will experience will depend on the individual's academic ability and prior knowledge/experience of HR. It will also depend on their dedication and commitment to learning.
While some individuals may find the content and assessments manageable, others may find it challenging, especially if they have no prior experience with or knowledge of the HR field. CIPD level 3 requires a considerable amount of reading, research, and critical thinking to complete each unit's assessments successfully. However, many CIPD Level 3 providers offer additional support, including study materials and tutor support, to help students complete the course successfully.
Can you do CIPD level 5 without level 3?
Technically, it is possible to do the CIPD Level 5 qualification without completing the CIPD Level 3 qualification. Whilst it can be done, those undertaking the Level 5 without studying at Level 3 first should have considerable HR work experience.
The CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People management (DPM) covers more advanced HR topics such as Organisational Performance & Culture in Practice, Professional Behaviours & Valuing People, Employment Relationship Management and Talent Management & Workforce Planning, Reward for Performance & Contribution and Leadership and Management Development. Therefore, having the foundation knowledge obtained through the CIPD Level 3 or equivalent is valuable when studying for the CIPD Level 5 qualification although it is not essential.
